Salzburg, Österreich (Austria), 15. August 2004 We arrived from Venice in the evening and checked in to an old hotel directly in the heart of the historic downtown. The concierge made us a reservation for the evening concert in the Festung (Fortress.) Few minutes later we walked to the cable car which elevated us by some 1000 feet to the 900 years old Fortress of Salzburg. These frequent concerts are organized for visitors, who maybe not often listen to classics, but in the surroundings of Salzburg cannot resist to visit a concert in a romantic "Kights Fortress." Performing ensembles are often small local orchestras or groups. They play almost always a few "standard" pieces, such as Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. In many cases these performances are not so perfect as we would expect it in a high rank Philharmony, but they are nevertheless very unique and attractive. |
