New Life Ministries Mission Trip 2006 Santo Domingo Day 7

It’s already day 7 and I can’t hardly believe that we are more than half way done. It feels as if we’ve been here for months and the only reason why most of us are excited for the trip is going to be over is because we want to come home to break the walls of Miami. Being here in DR, God has really broken each and every one of us. He has shown us all something new and I truly believe I am coming home a new woman. Today we went over to NPH to be with the orphans. At first when we came to the house yesterday I was extremely nervous because I had the group of oldest girls. Being the youngest of the group and looking like a kid myself I had a fear that they wouldn’t want to listen to me or even be around me (that’s usually the case at the orphanage in Miami). BUT GOD IS FAITHFUL!! It was totally the opposite. They wanted to hang out with me and they were showing me everything and just having a fun time. I’m also building a stronger relationship with the boy I’m sponsoring so being at NPH is always a blessing. It was also water day today and we ALL had a blast. The kids we’re all running around jumping and playing in the little pools, they were having fun in the slip and slide race. Some of us were even running around chasing them with water guns as they were wetting us with the water balloons and buckets of water. We all had a lot of fun.
After we all got cleaned up, we headed over to another Batay to give out the rest of the clothes. And once again God has shown Himself FAITHFUL. The first day we went to the Batay we prayed the God would multiply the clothes because we thought we didn’t have enough. But just like the 5 loaves and 2 fish we had ENOUGH and MORE left over. Being at the Batay really opened my eyes. When we hand out the clothes their eyes light up. They are so grateful for everything! They run around naked while back home all of us get upset if out clothes don’t match, or if we have a stain on them. We complain that we don’t have enough or we don’t have what’s in style YET they are overjoyed when they receive a pair of old used pants and a shirt. I really experienced how selfish we are and are truly truly BLESSED!!! God has really humbled and broken my spirit and I truly believe, like I said before, will come home a new woman. So yea… Praise God and I can’t wait to see you all home. I miss you guys!

ONE LOVE,
LIZ
