On Day 4, the missions team broke off into 4 groups: Construction, Villatoro School, San Felipe school, and a medical team at the Corinto church. The Construction team stayed at the construction site at the church of San Miguel, while the rest of the teams traveled to Corinto which was approximately 1.5 hours away from where we were staying. Once in Corinto, we dropped off the medical and San Felipe team which were relatively very close to one another (across the street). The bus then traveled another 10-15 minutes to the Villatorro school. The bus could not travel the entire route. We were dropped off and had to walk maybe another 10-20 minutes up a hill before entering the school. I was on the team that went to the Villatorro school. It was an amazing experience sharing with those kids. I had the opportunity to share God’s Word. The kids were eager to hear but timid to express themselves. Afterwards, we hiked up a mountain for another 10-15 minutes to reach their soccer field. During the soccer games you really saw them express themselves and come out of their shells. As a first time missionary, I was left speechless at what these kids deal with on a daily basis. The whole experience was eye-opening and a blessing.
