Day Two:
Today Hands of God was all about Mission of Hope! Mission of Hope’s goal is to reach every man, woman, and child in Haiti. As I prepared for this trip in the past six months, I couldn’t help but think of the logistics in the back of my head… I couldn’t help but ask God “How many missionaries do these kids see on a weekly basis”? “How can I make an impact?” As always, God has a plan that kicks my plan out of the water. On our visits to Mission of Hope I met a 16 year old girl named Miseline. Her smile was brilliant, and she was intrigued as Krysten prepared her painting activity. I was only able to talk to her for a moment before she had to leave for a translator interview. Despite her shyness, I was drawn to this little girl. Through out the activity I couldn’t keep Miseline off of my mind. I was able to paint a picture for her and prayed I’d catch her before we left. About 15 minutes before heading back to the campus, Miseline showed up at the basketball court. I grabbed the painting and told her I wanted her to have it. On the painting was the verse in Song of Solomon 2:2 “As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.” The love I felt for Miseline in just a moment was not my own. I was able to see her again at an evening service at MOH where she gave me a note and blessed me tenfold. God revealed to me that he only needs a moment to make an impact. He only needs a willing vessel to use to reach every man, woman, and child in Haiti and beyond.
