We woke up early to have devotions before heading out on our day. Kristy had me share since it was my birthday and I shared on 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, which basically talks about God using the foolish (so glad He does) I shared with the team The Message translation which ended with “If you’re going to blow a trumpet, blow a trumpet for God” and boy did we ever today!!
Our team spilt into two groups in the morning, one that went to construction and the other that went to Cocina de Amor for Medical, Dental and activities with the kids. The construction team, they started building a bathroom and finished tiling a whole kitchen.
The medical team saw over 100 patients and the dental team saw over 130 patients, in the midst of it all, we were praying for them, giving them medicine and clothes and just loving on them, especially the children. Upstairs the VBS team had face painting, balloon making and a wonderful story about Noah. After we served the children lunch we went out the give out Manna Packs (packs of rice with nutrients and protein from Feed my Starving Children) to the neighborhood and invited them to return in the evening where we would be doing an outreach in front of Cocina de Amor.
We returned at night and had worship and Pastor Leo shared an amazing word, we did a dance and a skit, after that we had an alter call and so many came up for prayer, the team came and prayed and God was glorified. After we passed out food and then the real fun began as we danced in the streets with children and had an amazing time at our very own block party.
We have already seen God move, so many testimonies, here in Guatemala and even ones in Miami. I truly couldn’t have prayed for a better birthday from waking up in Guatemala to serve God with an amazing group of foolish people who love God, to ending my day dancing in the streets and showing the love of God. I’ll never understand Gods love for us but I am forever grateful to Him for the privilege to serve Him and the people of Guatemala.
BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!
Humbled, Broken, Ecstatic and in love with my Savior,
Roxy
thank you John, for keepting us up todate through the wonderful pics. I woke up early today sunday to look at the "day 2 pics" and it was very emotional. In many ways it took me back 33 years back to Nicaragua, the country i left behind in 79 never to return. Amidst the poverty that surrounds them, Nevertheless, In the faces of the children you have captured the essesnce of pure, innocence, beauty and the simple joy of life. I feel energized, and will be going to church soon. I know there will be a void there but we will be together in spirit. May God continue to bless all of you, and keep you under the shadow of His mighty wings of protection.
