3 August 2007 - The weather ahs finally relented and today we poured the concrete for the base. There was about 10 tonnes of it and it all had to be wheeled up the garden. It was sunny, hot and apart from making tiring work for us, it was also making the concrete start to set. We did have a big problem in that I had ordered too little concrete, about 10-15% short, so we ended up lowering the level in the formwork. The next job is to lay 3 courses of bricks including the damp-proof course and hopefully, by mid-August, we will be making the wooden frame walls. Progress at last!
