Pa075852.jpg

We camped in the bush near a well north of Leonora. These wells were very important watering holes for the horses and cattle used to haul wagons of supplies, etc., A blacksmith would set up home at the more important wells to re-shoe animals as required. This heap of iron objects is, in fact, the remains of the the steerable front carriage of a wagon. You can see one of the axles on the right and the pivot for the carriage in the centre. Perhaps it was being repaired and was subsequently abandoned. It's still standing were it was left but all of the timber frame has long since gone.
