Jack's 8th Grade project was to test 3 different construction methods against huricane or tornado force winds. The title is "Which Pig Was Right?". We built 3 scaled down 4x4x4 houses with peaked roofs & subjected them to "winds" created by a Cessna 150. (100mph+-) One house was glued together with liquid nails construction glue. One was nailed together with 1-1/2" brads. One was screwed together with 1-1/2" screws. The glued one blew apart before 1/2 throttle. The nailed one lasted until 1/2 throttle. The screwed one lasted all the way through a full 30 seconds of full throttle.
One more thing. Jack's Uncle Gene had NO participation in the design or construction of these houses. So if you're thinking of using him to build you a house or remodel your current one take heart that these construction methods will NOT be used in your home. He's much more exacting than we were I assure you.
Enjoy the images as much as we enjoyed the project. I'm proud of Jack for thinking this through so well.
