PCSO Donates ‘Neighbourhood Champ’ Award Money

A Runcorn Community Support Officer (PCSO) who was hailed a ‘Neighbourhood Champ’ is donating his award money for the benefit of residents living in Castlefields.

PCSO Dave Brownlee was given the honour in April, 05 by Liverpool Housing Trust (LHT) and the Liverpool Echo who teamed up as part of a competition to celebrate ‘unsung heroes’, or organisations whose hard work makes a difference.

He patrols the Castlefields estate and was nominated by the Secretary of the local Resident’s Association and Chairperson of the Local Community Forum, Mary Achilles.

PCSO Brownlee had intended to use his award money to set up local Home Watch schemes, but having discovered that funding streams are already available for such initiatives, has decided to donate the money to a worthy cause.

The £250 he was awarded, plus the £3.00 it has accrued in interest, will now be donated to The Castlefields Community Festival which is being held at the local community centre on Thursday 1st June, 06 from 11am- 3pm.
