The final U.S. penny was pressed last week, at the Philadelphia Mint. Some that this was inevitable as people no longer use them and, furthermore, each one costs 3.69 cents to produce. I must be the exception to the rule as pennies were involved when I paid cash for my lunch today.

It will be interesting to see how society adapts as pennies fade away. I will be sorry to see them go.
