#049 A Helping Hand

A techy shot tonight, sometimes I cant help but be impressed with
the technology they are squeezing into our cameras these days
The image stabiliser apparently uses tiny gyroscopes to move the lens elements.
I used to have a toy gyroscope when I was a child, it was like a wheel
inside a sphere and sat on top of a mini Eiffel Tower ! Ive no idea how they fitted these inside a lens !
Darn clever, those Japanese !

Canon EOS 20D

Even my little 8800 has this and it's wonderful!

Yeah, I love mine on the 70-200. I used to have the f4 version and called it my "black hole" because it took so much light the lens wasn't much use off the tripod beyond mid day! Now I'm spoiled between the IS and the extra stops. I really like the way the light catches these letters and they look different. Really great macro shot here - I want that lens - haha. Cindy

It's working then.

If that's from a 100-400L then I have to say I'm very impressed with the lens. The IS makes a noticable difference when you look through the viewfinder... Almost essential in the UK during winter to get any kind of wildlife photo!!

It can make a bit of noise though!!

It's all very baffling, heh, my little camera has it too.

One of the better inventions could not live without it on my long zoom.

I agree it takes a genius to figure these things out.
I like the shot, very nice and clean.

Very nice and clear image. The letters are very sharp.

Ah, it would be nice to have a lens with this on it. It might SAVE a lot of photos from the scrapheap, otherwise known as the desktop trash can.
