The summer of 2011 finds the whooping cranes at their new home at the White River marsh just west of Berlin Wisconsin in Green Lake county.
For the first 10 years Operation Migration trained the cranes at Necedah Wisconsin on the refuge.
We were in the blind on the morning of August 21st for a up close and personal view of these birds. Needless to say this was another item to cross off the "bucket list" for me. The photos below were taken from the blind and shot though a field of big blue stem, so they are fuzzy at times, but what the camera can not image my mind can. To me this was an awsome day and I am sure it was for the other 4 people in the blind too. I want to thank our host, Doug Pellerin for the tour, the handlers, Caleb and Geoffrey and Richard the pilot for their time and effort to make us feel like part of the project. We will return.
