May 6th we got a call on a downed eagle in the Combined Locks area. A quick call to the local conservation officer, Mike Young, and the bird was caught with help of the finder, Joe Nussbaum. Abe Young assisted in the capture also. The bird was taken to the Wolf River vet clinic for x-rays and a check up. Dr Jim Ziegler did not find any injuries. We gave it R and R and then released it on June 9th back where it was found.
Bird in the hand
Abe and the eagle
Outside in large flight
Catch and release day
Quite a handfull.
After the battle of the box
One for the game wardens wall.
We do not throw birds in the air for release
Looks perfect from here
The flight was a long low one under the trees
But everything looks good on the up and down strokes
It landed some three football fields from us and watched
High in a tree above the Fox it sat while the crows and jays did their thing.
