Growling, hissing, grabbing, wing hitting and biting tells you it is time. This is no easy bird to deal with. It is one thing to deal with a great horned at some 3-4 lbs or a red tail at 2-3 lbs, but put all that energy into a 10 lbs plus bird and it is not an easy thing to control.
