Birds -- California Central Valley, January 2013

I photographed birds in the Central Valley on January 14, 2013 near Lodi; on January 15 at Merced NWR, with a side trip to Santa Fe Grade; and then returned to the Bay Area on January 16 via Panoche Valley. Highlights included a Peregrine Falcon eating a Black-necked Stilt, a male Vermilion Flycatcher, an American Bittern, and a good shot showing Ross's and Snow Geese together. Weather was clear and cold all three days, providing shots of birds on ice, and splendid sunsets.
