Birds -- Yuba Pass and Sierra Valley, July 2011

I stayed in Sierra City July 10-14, and pursued bird photographs at Yuba Pass, in Sierra Valley, and along Highway 89 north of Truckee. Highlights were Short-eared Owls on Dyson Lane, nesting Williamson's Sapsuckers at Kyburz Flat, and a parent feeding fledgling American Dippers at Wild Plum campground. A surplus of water made the landscape green, the rivers fast, and the peaks white.
