A Green Heron nest with four nestlings in Charleston Road Marsh, Mountain View, visited five times:

-midday on July 11, photographing four young nestlings (four pictures);

-at 8 a.m. on July 12, just missing photographing an adult as it left after feeding the nestlings, and again photographing all four of them (two pictures);

-at 7:15 a.m. on July 13, photographing an adult first approaching the nest, then inside with the nestlings, and finally all the young birds climbing out of the nest onto a branch (three pictures);

-at 7:15 on July 17, when I again photographed the adult, this time in the nest and feeding a young bird, and also all four young birds, now branchlings, climbing out of the nest onto a branch (three pictures);

-and finally at 7:30 a.m. on July 21, when all the young birds had left the nest, I first photographed the empty nest; then an adult that came to perch in a nearby tree; it was soon joined by three fledglings, two that I photographed both by themselves and with the adult; and one by itself a bit further away (five pictures).
