I stopped by Galileo Hill in Kern County on my way to Los Angeles in May 2008, and along with several other good photo-ops, I found this flock of migrating American Avocets in breeding plumage. In a space of about ten minutes, they stood and then flew in formation, providing this sequence of patterned group poses.
