Pillar Point can provide excellent bird photography on sunny winter late afternoons, especially with high tide, which pushes the birds of the beach and rocky shore up onto the rocks. February 2, 2009 had the late afternoon sun and high tide, though not the variety of birds that are sometimes found at this spot; I enjoyed the opportunity along with fellow photographers Tom Merigan and Tor Lund.
