Violet-green Swallow

Arastradero Preserve

Not a great picture because of distance and a too-steep angle, but it does show the violet, which I don't often see. The bright colors suggest that this is a male.

Tom, while all of your photos are excellent, this one is truly spectacular. I remember leading a trip once that had a lot of excellent birds, but my ?bird of the day" was a Violet-green Swallow that perched like this one, showing the violet on the rump. To see it captured in a photo is truly fantastic.

Your pictures are always amazing. Being able to see the violet makes this one outstanding. Wow!
