Only the second bird of this species I've identified in our yard. We have House Finches regularly, and I try to check them for signs of a Purple; on this bird note chunkier body, the faint green tint on the upperparts, the distinct pattern on the head, the triangular bill with straight edges, and the underparts with distinct short dark streaks on a white background.
