Pacific-slope Flycatcher

Frenchman's Park, Stanford campus

Birds of this species have regularly nested at this spot near the south end of Frenchman's Park on the Stanford campus; I have photos of them from every year but one since 2010. The February 6th appearance of this bird was so early that experts believe it was more likely to have wintered there than to have arrived this far out of season as a migrant. That makes it a rarity, as few wintering Pacific-slope Flycatchers have been reported in Northern California.
