California Thrasher, singing

Stanford campus

Across from my house in the faculty residential area, this bird sang for hours every day during January 2018; might be an unpaired male. California Thrashers inhabit a defended territory year round, and mate long term; both sexes sing, and may sing at any time during the year. They breed early, often in February, usually followed by a second clutch.
