Vermilion Flycatcher, male preparing to attack own reflection

Catalina State Park, Tucson, AZ

Birds of North America Online reports of this species that "[d]uring territorial behavior .. individuals observed frequently attacking their reflection on vehicle mirrors and windows." I was able to capture an extended illustration of this behavior at Catalina State Park north of Tucson, where this male repeatedly launched toward his own image as reflected in the the windows of a parked vehicle.
