American Redstart, juvenile

Scott's Landing, Deer Isle, Maine

I at first thought this might be a Nashville Warbler, but I was bothered by the faint and incomplete eyering. An expert pointed out that all visible features of the bird, including the incomplete eye-ring, are consistent with an especially dull juvenile American Redstart. If the end of the tail weren't behind that tree trunk, I would have seen a brown undertip, and that would have given me the ID on my own.
