Thayers Gull? first winter

These two first winter birds definitely look like Thayer's Gull to me. Small head, small bill and gentle appearance point toward Thayer's. Also, the plumage is largely gray overall but too dark for an Iceland Gull and shows too much contrast for a Glaucous-Winged Gull. The wing tips especially are too dark for a GWG but paler than a Herring Gull would be at this age. It's the wrong shape for a Western x Glaucous-Winged hybris and the plumage still shows too much pattern and a neat one at that for that combination and the head and bill is too small.
