Birds -- Arizona, February 2015

Here are some bird pictures I took in and around Tucson February 15-19, 2015, when I visited Agua Caliente Park, Catalina State Park (twice), the Santa Cruz Flats, and Tohono Chul Park. I especially enjoyed photographing Crissal and Bendire's Thrashers, both for the first time; also a male Vermilion Flycatcher who did battle with his own reflection in a car window. Special thanks to Dick Carlson, who led me to the Bendire's.

What great pics. The battling v. flycatcher ones are particularly stunning. Heading to SE AZ next week (from snowy Toronto) so definitely looking forward to seeing some/all of these in person.

Great shots, as always, Tom. I commute back and forth between Sierra Vista, AZ and Mountain View in the South Bay. I've enjoyed your images ever since we met, which put you on my radar. (Black-throated Blue Warbler in the Pescadero area followed by the Rough-legged Hawk, in San Gregoria about 2 years ago.) Your Vermillion shots are extraordinary! I'm sure I'll bump into you in the Bay Area sometime. Had I known you were nearby, I'd have suggested Florida Cyn. The Rufous-capped Warblers are stunning.
