considering the high pitch army of screaming fans, the sound quality was amazingly good, even with the lack of stage monitors and the distance from the stage. I couldn't hear very well from my original seats so I kept moving around during the entire concert until I could hear and see better. I recall how good "paperback writer" and "Baby's in Black" sounded.
Yes, the guy on the platform is controlling a spotlight. The main house lights never dimmed, so the lighting wasn't very effective.
