JUMPING - ROUGH LANDING AFTERWARD

LMU, Tennessee

Okay, I forget I'm not 20 anymore and I actually injured myself jumping off this little ledge. I just landed weird on my right foot. I either bruised my heal or pulled a tendon or something and it hurts like the dickens and right now I have ice on it. If it is worse in the morning I'll go to the doctor. Jody knows a bunch of them since he works at the college with a lot of doctors. I don't think it is broken because I can still walk but with a limp and kind of on the side of it. Bruised pretty good on the inside. But, I'll be okay. For any of you over 50 don't try this at home! LOL! btw...I was actully in the air in this shot! What we do for photography!! I guarantee I won't be doing that again anytime soon!

Boy, I can relate to your story! Back in 1999 I was walking three miles a day and was getting in really good shape---meaning I was not wet with perspiration and dragging when I got home. So I had the brilliant idea that I would run-walk instead of just walking the 3 miles. Big mistake! I know what you mean about over 50. It was the first time my body betrayed me. I injured ligaments in both knees, the ACL, and didn't realize how badly. Here it is 8 years later and my knees have gotten worse and worse. Now arthritis is setting in and I can hardly walk very far. Guess I will need knee surgery eventually. Take care and be safe! I liken this shot to the song "I believe I can fly". Lol! Voted.

So, this is how you hurt both your achilles tendons, Cindi? Big Ouch!

I'm not sure I'm up for 'extreme' photography just yet! You know, pictures that would go in a gallery titled "images for which I suffered pain and injury!"

Being over 50 and having limped or walked with crutches since March 25th as a result of injuring my right ankle, I have much sympathy for you. Another thought that comes to mind is the redneck joke. You know, those famous last words- "Here, hold my beer and watch this sht." LOL Take care of yourself, girl!

You have to come back to Florida...
...here we only jump into the water where the landings are more in tune with the forces of gravity.
I hope your injury has healed by the time you read this.

Wow- sacrificing yourself for the photo! It's a fun shot, though- and I hope your foot is better soon.

You do look very athletic!! Keep on with the ice and I hope you mend soon.
Dave Hein20-Jun-2008 06:01
Yeah, they always say it's not the fall that hurts you, it's the landing. Or the sudden stop.
Don't be doing that anymore!
