NEW GROWTH

Hawkins, TX

I just tried to set up my external hard drive on the laptop and it isn't working! AHHHHHHHHHHHH! All my photos from my trip on on there and I think it crashed!! Does anyone have any ideas on how to retrieve the documents?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is one of 3 pics that were still on my camera. I think I'm going to cry!

other sizes: small medium large auto

Nice detail shot Cindi! Sorry about your hard drive, but I have seen many free Data recovery softwares on google you might try. I have never used any myself.

I'm sure all will be OK with your pictures, but it is worth keeping at least two copies, one of which ideally would be in another building altogether - just incase of fire, flood and tempest! Best wishes!

Cindi...I feel for you! Had that happen to me once awhile ago. Searched for a recovery application on Google and was able to retrieve 90%. Now, for the life of me I can't find it in my folders (but I've gotten a new computer since). Do remember it was free, though.

You only saved them to one memory device, just the external drive and not the laptop hd? And then deleted them from the CF? Shame on you, you're too smart to be doing that. Lesson learned: Always save your images to AT LEAST TWO drives before deleting from the CF. I put mine on three. External HD's are cheap. It takes extra time but at least you have peace of mind that your images are saved. That said your images on the external SHOULD be retrievable but I have heard it can be costly. You may have to send it back to the manufacturer. Maybe you can find a local geek that can do it without costing an arm and a leg.
Sorry for the sermon :-)

Lovely bud Cindi! And don't cry too much, and don't panic.Bring it to your local computer service people and they will sort it for you. Nothing is lost - it's just hiding or lying in waiting. Here's a postcard from Italy to cheer you up:http://www.pbase.com/image/94865401

A gorgeous macro, Cindi! Love the dew drops.
You may want to take your HD to the local computer store. It may cost you a few $$, but they should be able to retrieve your files, if possible.
