SAD LOOKING COYOTE

North Richland Hills, TX

This was one of two that were hunting in broad daylight in a field around the corner from my office. They both looked sick and malnourished. I'm seeing more and more of them in the middle of the city. I wish someone would capture them and release them where they could live out their coyote lives happily and instead of starving in the middle of the city.

It is indeed a sad shot. But Pat is right, this is mange, and treatable. Coyotes are one of my all time favourite animals, along with foxes. V

THIS IS A COYOTE WITH MANGE WHICH IS WIDESPREAD IN COYOTES IN THE WILD AND ALSO DOGS IN CAPTIVITY. VETERINARY TREATMENT IS NEEDED TO CLEAR UP THE AFFLICTION AND IT OBVIOUSLY HAS A VERY DETRIMENTAL EFFECT ON THE COYOTE OVER TIME AND ESPECIALLY IN COLDER CLIMES. HOWEVER THIS COYOTE DOESN'T LOOK PARTICULARLY THIN IN THE PHOTO. MOST PEOPLE HAVE A VERY MISTAKEN IDEA OF IDEAL WEIGHTS FOR WILD ANIMALS. THEY AREN"T OVERWEIGHT LIKE ZOO ANIMALS OR PET DOGS BECAUSE THEY ARE FORAGING ALL THE TIME AND ARE THE EQUIVALENT OF MARATHON RUNNERS. PAT MARKLEVITZ

Oh this is horribly sad...as you say, can't something be done for them?

Yeah it's a coyote but you have to feel sad for this fella. Great image Cindi.

I hate coyotes... I really do, but no animal should suffer

That's a mangy coyote! Stay away from it.
Excellent capture.

Hi Cindi,
The poor thing looks like a lost orphan. It has to be dangerous for them too.

A sad image for sure, poignant statement Cindi. V

We've got them in our fairly big city too. We think they come down the railroad tracks from up north in search of food. They aren't going to find more than the occasional skunk down by our lakefront.

what a mangy mutt...i guess food is a bit more scarce this time of year. take him home!

Oh my! What a sad little critter. Great catch Cindi... heartbreaking in its reality.

Heartbreaking. Too bad all new developments aren't required to have a plan to properly relocate the original four footed tenants!

Poor thing, it looks so emaciated. Great capture Cindi, beautiful tones!

Urban sprawl.
We are seeing more bears, alligators, bobcats, and all manner of wildlife roaming in developed areas of Florida.
Balance. Will we find eco-balance?

Pathetic and sad.
