Took my friend, Claudia, out to the lake last Sunday. She is now in the home hospice program. She is still able to get around a little but the end seems to be imminent. We have always driven around White Rock Lake on our outings since she has been back in Dallas. And, this day she felt good enough to do that. So, we ate at Keller's and did the drive around the lake, talked and enjoyed the day.
She wanted to go drive around the lake so we did. I got out to get some pictures of the pelicans and she sat in the car and just watched. It is so difficult to see the oldest friend you have slowly dying. She and I have known each other and have been friends since 3rd grade. I'm not ready to lose her yet but I must be strong. She is at peace with what is in store and I'm thankful for that. This life will not be the same once she leaves this place and resides in Heaven. I pray for her everyday and for her family as they prepare. It's never easy to say goodbye to someone you love.
