Many villages are fighting to keep them going in the UK. Sadly the cost of upkeep, when some are only used once or twice a week, is becoming prohibitive. The downside of the mobile age.

Don't you wish we had these all over the United States. Although with all the vandalism, I don't guess they'd last long. So picturesque.

there are still fully functional ones in the UK, often in 'heritage' or tourist areas plus in many attractive villages. Some villages have adopted the shell and converted them into display cabinets - celebrating the history of the village for example.
