The Memorial Service and Graveside Service was held yesterday with full Military Honors for my father. I saw the flag draped casket in the hearse and took a pic. I was proud of my Dad. He was a good man, an honest man, all of his time was devoted to his family and our well-being. Our family vacations each year where we learned of new places and met new people was always a treat. The stories he'd tell of when he grew up. How he put himself through Dental School and went on into the Army only to return to it and retire from the Army Reserves. Everything he did he did for his family. He loved my Mom with all his heart for almost 62 years and Mom loved him dearly. He loved his 3 daughters and raised each of us to be self-sufficient, to never depend on anyone and to do the right thing. I'm proud of my Dad and all he did. I thank God he was my Dad and until the day God calls me home, he and the memories will live on in my heart.
They played taps, there were two Army Soldiers there to present the flag to my Mom. It was emotional but a good day remembering my Dad and all the love he shared with so many. Everyone who met him liked him. Never had a cross word for anyone. Never raised his voice to my Mom or us. A gentle, wonderful man who I'll truly miss. Took this sunset shot last night after coming back to East Texas with my Mom and overlayed it with the casket. God's gift to an emotional yet loving day.
