STRIKE ONE!

Fort Worth, TX

Was at home working on wedding pics when I noticed the lightning. Jumped in my car and headed to the lake a couple of miles away. Got to the top of the ridge at the lake and saw this heading my direction. Quite a few lightning strikes. The buildings are a local community college.

Things started darkening up and changing color and then the wind picked up along with a bunch of birds that were flying past very, very fast. I got a few more shots off and took off myself when the wind started rocking the Jeep. Got home just in time for 75-80 straight line winds to blow through.

Lots of fence damage and tree damage as well as roof damage going on in my neighborhood. However, my house sustained no damage except some fallen branches. Where that is striking is probably very close to my house. We lost power from 6:00 yesterday til around 8:30 this morning. Some of the area I live in will be without for a while longer. No one was injured and no major damage done. Scary stuff though.

Got several lightning shots. Fairly easy when they hit about every 5 seconds. got one more I really liked with the birds in it. Will post it in another gallery tonight.

What a storm! I bet that strike really crackled. A fabulous picture...fantastic and strange colour combinations. The pink area surrounding the bolt's exit from the cloud is amazing. It's all a bit scary....mother nature in a real mood! Glad you and your home were unscathed.
