COLLECTING TO EAT

Saginaw, TX

This man was collecting cans and anything else he could find just so he could eat and maybe find a place to stay tonight. It is cold at night so I hope he does find a place that is warm.

I had some cans and a couple of dollars I gave to him. I wish I could give more but I'm in a tough situation right now. Unemployment will end the first of Feburary and no job in sight right now but I have resources to help me where this man does not.

I thank God that I have family and friends that love me. My heart goes out to those like this who have no place to go to or family to love them.

A poignant image, Cindi. It's fortunate that those of us on Pbase don't have to worry about eating and sleeping.

A moving image, Cindi. You were especially considerate given your own circumstances. I do hope things look up for you very soon.

Powerful image showing the human condition as it is for far too many in America and around the globe. Well done, Cindi
If only our elected officials would stop selling their souls to corporate bean counters and do what's right for this country.

Unfortunately this is not an uncommon thing. The unacceptable face of Capitalism.

Strong image of a stark reality. The Republicans who want to continue the tax cuts to the wealthy should have this hanging in their homes.
Good comment by Frank.

I would love to buy a house and offer it to those in need. Just so they could have a place they can sleep and keep warm. great shot...lots of emotion.V

I called my congressional office a few days ago to support extending unemployment benefits as well as taxing the ultra-rich but I live in a very conservative district and my pleas fell on deaf ears. My congressman touts living a Christian life . . . so I concluded my call by suggesting he reread the Parable of the Good Samaritan. I hope you find work soon but it's tough when there are five unemployed workers for each job opening. I find it interesting this fellow is looking for help in the shadow of the Church of Christ. Your photograph equals the work of Gordon Parks during the Great Depression. Good job!
