THE BIRDS

Fort Worth, TX

As I was driving down this country road today, I saw a formation in the sky with all the birds flying from one field to another. They fly a lot in unison this time of year. These are all European Starlings and it is a sight to see.

Got this shot as they just took off for another part of the field. I'm hoping to get a picture of their formations in the sky....amazing! There were thousands of them!!

An amazing display of nature at work. We have large flocks that roost behind our main post office. They are starlings, grackels and cowbirds. The noise is deafening as they go out in squadrons in the morning and then return at night. Voted. Sorry, my "u" key is sticking!!

Looks like my back yard in Louisiana. Nice shot!

OK, this has answered my question on your other shot!
Never seen these swarms of starlings - I believe there are certain spots they tend to do this. Obviously my local town is not such a place!

WOW, that's a lot of birds! We saw something similar in NE on the way home, not quite as thick but about 1/2 mile long. They started taking off and kept at it all the while we were driving at 75 MPH!

One of our tv stations did a feature on them tonight flying into the cane fields in patterns like swirling tornados.
