Went to the Air Show today and caught this fellow moving fast. Amazing show! I'll be putting up a gallery in the near future but have wedding shots to finish on two weddings, Dave's gallery and then I'll work on this one. Also, need to catch up on comments. Whew, I'm tired!

btw...no post processing except used a little saturation and sharpened a tad, other than that this is the real thing!

Cool....I am very jealous of this shot. It is not sound barrier breaking (and you've made no claim that it is); however, braking the barrier is allowed in specific airspaces.

To the "guest" who says this isn't breaking the sound barrier.... this IS in fact what happens when the sound barrier is broken. It is NOT illegal in the states to do (under certain conditions it is, however). Many of my good friends are Navy Pilots who have done air shows, and I have witnessed plenty myself. I hate to break the news to you but this jet wasn't breaking the sound barrier....it is illegal in the US...and big news is made if a jet does it...and I certainly haven't heard anything of it in the aviation forums. The cone is just a product of the compression of air in a conical shape at the edge of the aircraft...causing condensation of the air around the jet. Its a common occurance...but not fast enough to be breaking the sound barrier. For wicked good shots of jets doing this all the time...go to Fence Check.

that is a cool picture cindi, but i have to crap in the punch bowl and say they're not allowed to fly supersonically in the US during peacetime except for specific flight areas located in the country. that's a condensation/vapor cone caused by areas of low pressure over the aircraft (for the geeks out there it's called a Prandtl-Glauert condensation cloud)... :OP i look forward to your other shots....the houston airshow is next weekend!
