This will lead to more deaths of children that never asked to be conceived in the first place and the trauma to the woman after abortion is never discussed. Does anyone realize that after an abortion, the woman will have emotional and guilt issues for the rest of her life?? I know I'm opening a can of worms here, but how can we play God and abort a child which in my heart is a baby (human being) before it is born. The heart starts beating 18 days after conception. It is a living being and is a gift from God.

Many detractors claim that a baby isn't a living human being until he or she has been born. When does the baby have everything we (adults) have, and only needs to grow before being born?

Great question! At 10 or 11 weeks gestation all the major life functions are in place and functioning to some degree. Keep in mind, though, that these processes have to undergo major maturation before the baby can survive outside of the womb.

What is the earliest that a premature baby can survive outside of the womb?

Twenty weeks is the earliest premature birth that has survived. Survivals before 23 weeks are extremely rare. With medical technology constantly changing and improving, these numbers will hopefully become obsolete in the future.


Some claim this will aleviate unplanned pregnancies and child abuse and neglect. Abortion will not do this. Since abortions became legal, child abuse and neglect still happen and even in greater numbers than before.

What if our President had been aborted because his mother couldn't care for him? He wouldn't be here to be president. I just have a huge issue with abortion. Late term abortions where the child can be born alive, partial birth abortions where a child is mutilated after the head exits the vaginal canal...it, in my mind, is wrong, terribly wrong. Look at the children around you, look at their innocence....how can we make the decision to end their life before it has even yet begun to breath outside the womb? What if your mother decided to abort you?

Folks will say if it is illegal then more women will die because they will go to illegal abortionists. Yes, that is probably true but it would lessen the amount of abortions performed and less children will die because of it. Many couples cannot have children and would love the opportunity to adopt but because the abortion rate is so high and it is so difficult to adopt in this country, they go to other countries to adopt their children.

I am a woman and have known numerous women who have gone thru the procedure and each one of them regrets it and still holds on to the guilt. And, it has been linked to Breast Cancer, scientific studies have shown, due to the drastic fall in hormones after the abortion is completed. After talking with many women that have had breast cancer, especially those under the age of 50, more than 90% told me that they had had an abortion in their past especially when the cancer they have feeds on hormones. The drastic change in hormone levels has shown that it does have an impact. None of those things are ever mentioned because no one wants to hear the truth. My opinion. I know some will blast me for posting this and saying how I feel but I believe a baby is a baby and not a choice. At the very least, explain to women who are thinking about it all the damage it can do to your emotional and physical state of having an abortion, the true effects and ramifications it has on your body that continues throughout your life, unless of course, you don't have a heart. Maybe then, women will think twice about it. I know there are "grey" areas such as rape and incest and I won't discuss that topic here. This is about having our government pay for abortions for women who knew what they were doing, made the choice to have sex and then decide to abort the child after becoming pregnant. It will not stop unwanted pregnancies and our tax dollars will go to aid the killing of innocent lives. I do not want my tax dollars spent that way, that is for sure!

Those of you who claim to love children but agree that women should have a choice on killing their children before they can come into this world is an oxymoron. We should be protecting them, loving them and raising them with values and morals, not killing them before they have had a chance to live their lives and maybe become someone great.
