This nature reserve is set in the Witteberg mountain range of the Eastern Free State. Lofty sandstone ridges with breathtaking views in every direction over the reserve and beyond to the Maluti mountains of Lesotho, lie with two valleys between them. Bushman paintings are hidden under a secluded rock overhang at the base of one of the ridges in the larger valley. Ancient stone ruins, including a corbelled hut, lie high on one of the ridges. With an uninterrupted view in every direction, this site was obviously carefully chosen for the early detection of approaching enemies of the inhabitants.( Here is a link to tips on viewing stereo images http://www.angelfire.com/ca/erker/freeview.html )
