My Guide, Virgilio Calderon, and I took a one day trip to Tapanti National Park. It is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Rancho Naturalista, and at a higher elevation, in true cloud forest. The vegetation was lush and green, with the trees laden with mosses, ferns, bromeliads and other epiphytes. It rained off and off, which made bird photography difficult, although we did see a good variety of birds. The highlight was a single Green-fronted Lancebill at a small stream.
