This wasp seemed to be in the process of digging out a burrow and it came back to the burrow several times over a 10 minute period. Eventually it will capture, sting and paralyze a caterpillar, drag it into the burrow, and lay a single egg on it. The burrow will then be closed with an appropriate sized pebble. When the egg hatches the larval wasp will feed on the paralyzed but still living caterpillar until it is ready to pupate.
