This gallery contains my best photographs of birds. Altogether I saw 246 species of birds and photographed 150 species. It is not uncommon for birders to go on birding trips to Africa and get over 400 species. This I did not expect as it was not a pure birding tour, and I spent much of my time taking photographs, not of just the birds, but of everything that moved and many things that did not move. As well none of my travelling companions were birders, so although they were of help when we were together as a group, during any spare time, which is when I found and photographed most of the smaller birds, I was on my own and did not get the benefit of the extra eyes and experience tha comes from keen birders. Of course there were certain birds that I really wanted to see, and for the most part I did see them. Perhaps at the top of the list was Secretary Bird. I not only saw it, but also took photographs, two of which are included in this gallery.
