Looking like Jerry Garcia on a day off, the red eyes of Clark's (and Western, Eared, etc.) Grebes have always been one of my favorite things about them. This isn't the greatest image, but it does serve as a reminder to make sure you truly SEE the bird, not just identify it. Learning more about the world around us is one of the true joys of birding. I'll leave it to the viewers of this image to do some research on their own as to why most grebes have red eyes.
