This juvenile Red-tail reminded me of juvenile Harlan's Hawks I've seen, with its dark belly and heavily streaked but pale upper breast, whitish tail, and faint patagials. But the dark hood, warm tones (rather than blackish tones) and lack of a white chin indicate this is a young dark-morph buteo jamaicensis calurus rather than a buteo jamaicensis harlani
