Contopus caribaeus
One of the most distinctive pewees, this species is one of the easiest woodland species to find. As many as five subspecies are recognised, although only nominate caribaeus occurs on the main island, the other taxa being confined to outlying cays. The validity of at least some of these does, however, appear somewhat questionable. Two other pewees occur on Cuba as passage migrants, en route to and from their breeding areas in North America.
