The Checkered Lilly

The Snakes Head Fritillary or Checkered Lily (Fritillaria meleagris)
is one of the most beautiful flowers that I have encountered.
As with everything, good things come to those who wait and if you
wait long enough, you may well encounter one of these magical creatures.

These fairies are common world wide but especially in children's fantasies.
Unfortunately they are becoming increasingly rare in adult's.

I am working up an exhibition of some of our regions wild flora in August.
A small section will be devoted to the magic kingdom. If you are in the area,
please pop into the Salle Paul Broca on the main town square in Ste Foy la Grande
between 13 and 19 August 2007.

An unusual and elegant flower indeed, not to mention the dragonfly!

Hi dear friend, I´m speechless, this image is so lovely, I´ve never seen such flower, at first time I thought she hade a shower, but it are her wings, why she is so bashful? Beautiful colors and nice misty atmosphere, vote, I hope you don´t stop this gallery, best regards, Rosemarie :o)

Very nicely captured, now we can even see how the wings grow out of her shoulders :)
Lovely image.
