Though your subject here tries hard to put on that proverbial happy face, he seems to be masking intense inner pain hidden deep inside those moist squinting eyes atop a a ruggedly chiseled, but clearly broken nose. The fine frizz of unevenly cut hair, contrasted against the sheen of a raw background puts an exclamation point on that hidden pain.
