The first real worries about Bella and her chances for survival.
From one day to the next, she could no longer get up and walk.
Her joints were swollen and full of liquid. A rush job to the
vet resulted in the liquid being drained and a solution to be
injected to help seal the bones. The bone liquid was an early
sign of canine arthritis. The first three weeks, the swelling
just got worse and not being able to take her for her daily walks
probably hurt me as much as it hurt her. I gave it one extra
week as I did not want her to suffer. If she would not get better
I would ask the vet to end her suffering... but she emerged
victorious. The bandage was replaced, the wounds healed up and
she is now running like a young puppy... though we tend to limit
the strolls now to about 5 km per day. A drastic reduction from 15.
