Contemporary African Masks and their descriptions

African contemporary artist do not only rework traditional notions of the mask into their creations, they have adopted the form of mask making as the space to express themselves and to deliver their messages. This gallery contains a collection of masks from Ghana that have been produced for current local and international market. The captions attached further describe each mask and puts it into cultural perspective of modern Ghana.
